High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Went here for the first time on vacation. It reminds me a lot of 5 Guys burgers but these are 100% grass fed beef. I got the BurgerFi cheeseburger: two beef patties with cheese, lettuce, tomato and their BurgerFi sauce (like a Big Mac sauce). My boyfriend got the same and we ordered a large fry to split. The burgers were really juicy and had a great flavor and the fries were hand cut. Everything was delicious but not as large of a portion as I was anticipating - being as I was comparing it to the sizes you get at 5 guys. They say the large fries can feed 3-4 people, but that's not true. It was enough for me and my boyfriend but he was left wanting more fries. I did spot a nearby table that had ordered some onion rings and they looked enormous!! Definitely would get those next time!! Overall, it was good and everything was "green" and environmentally friendly. I would probably go again because I liked the flavor of the beef and I want to try those onion rings and their frozen custard too!

Great Food and beer selection! Grand opening so a little craziness is expected. The only thing I didn't like was that I had to get up and go pick up my food. Not that big of a deal but was my only dislike. Great location on Hwy 17. Can't wait to visit in the off season!

With burger in the name, how could you go wrong? We were greeted by a friendly bartender named Kary. She walked us thru the menu and ordering options. We each created our own burgers with several fresh toppings. On the side we ordered fresh cut Parmesan herb fries with garlic aoli. To my surprise the fries came out perfectly crisp and delicious. To top it off they had several beers available to enjoy while we were waiting for our meal.

    (3)
  • Robert A.

Had the 28 burger and my girlfriend had the Burgerfi cheeseburger. We had the parm and herb fries with it too. It was very good! We will definitely be back.

    (4)
  • Martina C.

Lost our order. Ordered the supreme. No cheese. No sauce. No condiments. McD's would have been better. It was a carry out order too, so even worse.

  • Clark F.

A Five Guys style restaurant but with better burgers, fires, and atmosphere. They also have moderate options in the beer and liquor departments. All around great burger joint.

    (4)
  • Travis C.

Ordered 2 fi cheeseburgers, fries/onion rings to split, and a tea... My dad just wanted water... The water cup was tiny (I put a picture in the photo section). Looked like something that would be next to a water fountain. Some people just like water, especially after a hot day on the beach! Only unique thing was the onion rings and potato rolls... Beef patties were TINY. Atmosphere is good though, so if they take comments to heart and change to adjust they might make it here.

  • Richard J.

Great burger, fries, beer, onion rings. Modern, sleek decor with great service. Coin flip between here, River City or Hamburger Joe's. Enjoy!

    (4)
  • Liz E.

Love the "green" atmosphere. Chairs made from recycled coke bottles. Patio was lovely. I had the veggie burger and monster onion rings. Very tasty!! Wish they had one of these places in PA. Would go many times!!

    (5)
  • Courtney S.

I disagree with those who say the burgers are small (maybe it's because they are all-natural). They are a great size and the small order of fries can be shared between two or three people. Service was friendly and our food was prepared quickly and correctly. They have beer and wine. Hip joint.

    (4)
  • Miranda S.

Burgers are overpriced. They're small. But the food is pretty good. Everything is a la carte. Five guys is better in my opinion and is right around the corner.

    (3)
  • kevin p.

Very good burger also the fries were just right, no complaints here. Priced right and great atmosphere. I will go back soon and try milkshakes soon

  • Jenn B.

Awesome music, great service. Clean and trendy. The chilli cheese fries are great and the ALL DAY BREAKFAST BURGER IS A MUST!!!! Best burger I've ever had. Loved it!

    (5)
  • Tiffany H.

Awesome burgers! And great fries with toppings like Parmesan and herbs! Burgerfi sauce on he burgers is so good and their hot dogs are great too. They have a bar and a nice selection of beers on tap. Great causal atmosphere

Stopped in for lunch two days ago...The atmosphere is definitely casual and laid back. I had a double with cheese and it was great!! The service was a bit slow but they have only been open a few days...the bartender was pleasant and made great drinks...the patio area is a nice touch as well. I will be back for sure.

  • Callie J.

It was impressive, great burgers and amazing food The best part are the fries and the concretes were with fresh ingredients , good prices

    (5)
  • Tonyne H.

The 1/2 and 1/2 burger is truly amazing! So many choices, the food is great, the staff is helpful, love the "green" vibe. Will be back often!

    (4)
  • Nikki C.

Onion rings were really good and fries were good homemade burger joint fries. The burgers were not good, especially for the price. The single patty is very small and the are very dry. We also got a hot dog and it was room temperature. My suggestion is head down the road to 5 guys.

    (3)
  • Matt M.

We just moved to the area and have been sampling 3-4 different restauraunts a week for two months. Went here today for lunch, off season so no crowd. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. The burger and hot dogs were perfectly cooked and tasted great. The fries and onion rings were hot and crispy. The decor is cool and we look forward to our next visit. Can't wait to try a good beer and then come again for dessert !

    (5)
  • Tina C.

Great place good food and flavors so refreshing. Loved it. We had the Angus cheese burger w fries. Can't wait to try the onion rings.

  • Marc S.

My wife and I came during the grand opening and enjoyed it very much. I ordered a double with one burger beef and the other brisket. The burgers were delicious the toppings were fresh and crispy lettuce etc. everything made to order so a little wait but just grab a beer from a decent craft selection or glass of wine to help with the wait. If I were to have any issues it would be the size of the actual burgers, I could have ate more but it was very good so next time I will order a triple. We ordered a large fry, double , and single and the bill was $20 not bad IMO I will be back!!!

    (5)
  • Robert O.

Food and service were great and place was clean. Be careful you get a lot of fries, you can split a large fry between a family of four. Great onion rings. A tad pricey, but you get what you pay for, will come back.

    (5)
  • Carol W.

After an hour waiting for food - one of our two cheeseburgers was served with no meat! The onion rings were not served with meal and when finally ready were flavorless and tough. Definitely did not have their act together

    (1)
  • Emmett B.

I've had the onion rings here twice. The first time they were perfect, but the second time they were really salty. It tasted like there were pockets of salt inside the fry batter that actually burnt my mouth. The burgers are fantastic and I love that you can build your own. It is on the more expensive side when you compare the size of the burgers to the price, but the taste makes up for that.

    (3)
  • Charles L.

Great place. Hamburger and hotdogs were delicious. Great bar as well. Staff was very friendly.

    (5)
  • Chad D.

These people writing reviews are crazy! I'm super picky and we just ate at burger if and it was amazing. Great burgers and amazing fries! Seriously the best meal I have had since I have been in myrtle and I leave tomorrow. Wish I woulda tried sooner so I could of came back!! Eat here, amazing food and Fairly cheap prices

Stopped in after a morning at the beach. I wanted to go get some fish tacos but my buddy was in a burger mood. We get there and the place is packed. I was kind of bummed out to find out there is no waitress service but I quickly adjusted. The place reminds me of Shake Shack in NY, I mean like exactly. Got in line ordered my burger( a double with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles ketchup and mustard), side of the fries/onion ring combo. I asked for cheese on the fries. I get a beeper that buzzes when the food is ready so we began to hawk tables. We finally get one and sit and wait. We waited for at least 15 minutes and I get buzzed. I picked up the food and sat down. The rings were really greasy and oily, I almost puked. The fries were soggy and had maybe a teaspoon of cheese on them. They also had a burnt flavor. The burger was kinda small but decent with good flavor, although again a bit greasy. My buddy seemed to like both his fries and burger( he had the breakfast all day one, complete with an egg, bacon and hash brown) although not as much as the aforementioned Shake Shack. He had a red velvet milkshake which he said was excellent. The atmosphere was good with lots of cute chicks and the plaice was clean, but I won't be going back. Next time I'm going with my gut and getting some fish tacos!

  • Portrr R.

It's a great place and an excellent burger. I'd put it a notch above Five Guys for the beer, onion rings and topping varieties but on par for the burger and fries. And it's just a burger joint - not a sit down restaurant. Fancy outside but you walk in, stand in line, place your order and wait for them to call. Get the double if you like a thick burger. Nice beer selection. The onion rings are a definite recommendation. Would go back for a burger & beer. Would go elsewhere to take a group out for a nice dinner.

    (5)
  • Gregory P.

Not the greatest service as far as the friendly ness of the staff and portions not so large, great atmosphere and concept, food was good. Craft beers? Not so much.

    (3)
  • Michael L.

Please be aware that the default burger is a double patty. If you only want a single you must specify. Also, French fry servings are enough for two...share an order unless truly hungry or a big eater. As for quality....food and service were both 4 star.

    (4)
  • Leigh B.

We love this place. Best burgers , craft beer, and wine. Highly recommend the onion rings.

    (5)
  • Brittany B.

Not worth the stop. Your typical fast food burger with extra grease. We were not asked how we wanted our burgers cooked...poor quality meat!

    (2)
  • Jenn M.

Good burgers, addictive fries, and a nice beer selection. The weekend Bloody Mary bar is very good, and their outdoor seating is pleasant. Overall a good experience.

    (3)
  • Sabra H.

Wonderful food and FANTASTIC service. Was it a little pricy compared to other fast food restaurants? Yes. Was the atmosphere, the food quality, and the friendly employees worth the extra dollar? Absolutely! We will definitely be visiting again and recommending to others.

    (5)
  • Vance E.

The burger and fries were good but pricey. There are many places with better burgers at much less the cost. Gimmick type restaurant that has OK food.

  • Alex R.

We were looking for someplace for lunch today, wasn't seeing anything that grabbed us. Then we happened to come across this place, saw something on their sign about fresh burgers and craft beers, and decided to give it a shot. Glad we did. Probably our favorite burger joint in Myrtle Beach. The burgers aren't huge, but very tasty. Lots of topping choices. The fries are fresh cut and delicious. And the onion rings... they're a revelation. Perfectly battered, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. We're already planning a return visit to Myrtle next spring, and this is definitely on our "must-hit" list. Looking forward to exploring their menu even further... the custards and concretes sound amazing.

    (4)
  • George H.

Excellent burger and fries. I thought it was better than Five Guys. Fries are huge, so split an order. Wine by the glass. Decent beer selection. Also have a full bar. I am told there are about 65 in the chain so far.

    (5)
  • Gina H.

Very friendly staff, greeted when we entered and the menu and order process explained. Burger was great and onion rings are awesome! Fries are great too! Nice atmosphere would definitely return.

    (5)
  • Paul R.

I am still here. I have been waiting one hour for a burger! If I had known I would have gone somewhere else. AVOID!!!!

    (1)
  • Pete T.

Wasn't impressed with the food! Small burgers & poor service will keep me away 5 guys is around the corner and better food & better service.

    (1)
  • Jenny M.

The burgers were okay... if you took away the add ons, the meat itself was not moist and not as flavorful as I hope. Where the burgers lacked, the onion rings made up for x100. The batter was a perfect blend of spices. It was a fun atmosphere and loved the patio.

  • Margie D.

Went back September 20, 2014 had the Chicago style hotdog and onion rings - they were fabulous! Definitely the place to go when in the area! Management and staff are awesome - great atmosphere.

  • Joel B.

As always: Food, Service, and Atmosphere must all be on to earn a 5. They nailed it. This is not my 1st visit. I came back to make sure it wasn't a fluke. So glad I did. These burgers are off the hook. The custard is legit! I've had Wisconsin custard, this was right there with the best, so refreshing. Add the unlimited coke options dispensed, and it was perfect. The service was genuine and pleasantly delivered. They went the 2nd mile during our whole visit. There were 15 of us and the staff had a blast with us, that's not normal. They brought the food out to us, helped us pass it out, and made certain everything was perfect. The environment is set for all types. We sat in the covered, open, outdoor seating. I love being able to relax with the 10 kids with us. It's not a run down location. This newer concept is well maintained and they make sure it stays that way. I'm here for 5 more days and I already miss this place. Make a point to visit here early on your trip, you'll be back before you leave. And as for you locals, I envy you.

The thing about trying new places is you always compare them to places you know and love... Walking into this place I have never heard of before was no exception. From the outside you knew they sold burgers... I immediately think Five Guys or even Red Robin. This place is firmly in the middle of the 2 aforementioned establishments. There was sit down seating like a Red Robin but not quite the restaurant feel. It felt more like a Five Guys but had better toppings. So the draw here is that the burgers are all made from vegetarian cows that are all natural no hormones and such. What I liked most is the toppings, there was a huge assortment of things that could be added to your burger. There was also beer which is never a bad thing. Bottom Line: The burger was a little pricier than I would have liked but you get what you pay for. The quality was very nice, for a double 1/4 pound patty expect to pay just under or about $10.

  • Mark D.

it was good - I wouldn't say great. I have had better grass fed beef, this didn't stand out as really amazing grass fed beef, like I have had in Asheville, NC or Columbus, Ohio. We had a veggie burger that we liked very much, and the fries are some of the best fries we ever ate. However, we also ordered a plain double burger, that were very small in size and thickness. Certainly very small for their cost. The patio outside was very nice. The staff was very fast food and not very friendly or social, maybe some visits to chickfila to learn about how to engage customers. We did enjoy our experience and would go back.

  • Stephen H.

Wow really impressed by this Burger joint that was found on accident. Being from Dallas we have fantastic restaurants so I'd did not expect much. Very clean, Great wait staff, and friendly. The owner stopped by to see what I thought. The order of fries is huge I did not eat half. But get the onion rings with them and you will not be sorry. Dble cheeseburger, fries and as an ice cream junky DO NOT PASS UP THE CUSTARD... Just sayin...

    (4)
  • Mary S.

Very good, but I wish they had gluten free options for fries and onion rings

    (3)
  • Lee M.

This might just be the best burger I have ever eaten. Better than the very popular spot right beside them. You must get an order of onion rings! Fresh, grass fed, natural, clean, juicy, tender burger with fried egg and jalapeños!!! This place has official became a must for every beach trip!!! Burger Love!!!

    (5)
  • Kris M.

Cool place with a great layout! Food came out super fast and it was absolutely delicious! This was our first visit and we will definitely be back again!!

  • Nick L.

Nice burgers, great options, cheaper than McDonalds and better quality. Nice location in an old Burger King building. Nice decor. Fancy soda machines. Anything you want they have it.

    (5)
  • Will S.

Nice atmosphere and the outdoor patio area was expansive and had plenty of room between tables. Burger was on par with Five Guys, but enjoyed the fresh fries more than the Guys. The ordering process could improve since the line at the register was backed up right in the middle of the main dining area and caused customers running into each other as they picked up their meals and refilling beverages.

    (4)
  • Doll G.

It was crazy busy when we arrived at 12:30 but by the time we were nearly finished, there was only a short line. You order your food at the counter and they buzz you when finished. The burger, fries and onion rings were very good though.

    (4)
  • Loretta T.

Burger was good - bun was cold but fries overcompensate. A regular is large enough for 3 people. The table next to us got a large and it was unreal. Also Stella beer was cheaper than my diet coke. Maybe that's a good thing? Would come back!

    (4)
  • Richard F.

1st timer here. Was greeted warmly by the staff, offered me the special of the day, made my burger. bacon Blue cheese with pickles perfectly. As well as the well done french fries. Also have a wide variety of craft beer. Delicious we be back Thanks, staff is very friendly Richard Franko

Best burger I have had in a long time. Fast casual setup. Craft beer available. Great for kids. Didn't try the onion rings but they looked great.

  • David J.

Excellent burger, but the (gigantic) onion rings are really the standout here.

    (4)
  • Peggy P.

Really disappointed on a Thursday night they were closed at 9:50 pm, yet hours on the door said Late night!! Mc Donald's across the street was slammed with cars around the building! Very disappointing!

    (1)
  • Mark M.

Like others have reported - this is a pricey burger joint. Burger size was about the size as from Steak n Shake - no where near a qtr pound patty and was $7 or so. 2 burgers, order of onion rings and two soft drinks was $26. Rings were good and burgers too, but not extra special and again were very small.

    (2)
  • Amanda F.

Burgers were hot, fresh and delicious. Better than Five Guys. Fries were nothing to write home about - not nearly as good as Five Guys. Onion rings are HUGE and out of this world and I'm not usually and onion ring person. At our last visit, tried the Texas style Kobe hotdog. At nearly $6, it was awful and a waste of money. The wiener itself was actually cool when I bit into it, as though it had been cooked and refrigerated for a short time. Would eat here again, just avoid the dogs and fries.

    (4)
  • Kara C.

Very disappointing. We got one burger, one order of fries/onion rings and two drinks. The bill was $19. Save yourself the trip and go to River City or Five Guys.

    (2)
  • Lindsay H.

Great burgers. Husband and I both got them green style- with lettuce instead of a bun. Very juicy. A bit messy with lettuce but I expected that. Great beer selection. Husband got the sweet water ipa and I got a hard apple cider. We shared the onion rings which were fantastic. They even came around with a free sample of their frozen custard- to die for but definitely not allowed in my diet!

My parents and I have been wanting to try this place since it opened. They only live about 2 blocks away. We went on Saturday at 1:30 and the place was packed. The noise inside was deafening! Someone mentioned the line running through the middle of the store. Yep, and if you're sitting at a table on the opposite from the soda area getting a refill can be challenging navigating through that line! The burgers were very good - but a little small. Looks like everyone is going to about a 3" bun and patty these days :( But the flavor was excellent for a franchise burger joint! Better than 5 Guys? IDK - flip a coin. The onion rings are to die for! We didn't try fries on this trip. The cost - well lets just say it's a little on the high side. Three burgers (one was a double), one large order onion rings ($5, and we received 6 very nice sized rings), and 3 soda's came to a grand total of $35.69! Of that $35.69, $7.71 was for the soda's. They called it three "Freestyle" soda's. What that means is for $2.57 each you can get a refill - IF you don't mind running the gauntlet of people standing in line to place their order! Personally, all things considered, I gave them 3 stars. If the burgers would have been a standard sized burger instead of the McDonald/Burger King sized micro burgers (yes, the patties are a little thicker) I would have given 4 stars. Had the prices been a little more realistic, 5 stars. So there's my opinion. Will I go back - heck yea! But I'll bring my own beverage next time!

  • Skipp W.

Nice stay but WAY OVER PRICED. 2 hamburgers 1 cheeseburger 3 fries 2 cokes 1 tea. 40 bucks. Closer to 48 w tip. Spend less at a NFL game. I mean seriously over priced.

Went there 2 days ago with my husband and son and it was the most delicious burger and fries I've ever had! Even the fries were amazing. The condoments you get yourself at the drink station but after one bite of my burger, I didn't feel the need to add anything. It was so juicy n flavorful! Midway through our meal a woman comes around with samples of their frozen custard which is like nothing you've ever had. I would go every day if I could. A little pricey ($42 for 3 burgers, lg fry, 2 beers, and a tea) but well worth it in my book. We will definitely be back. Its great being a local and having access to such wonderful food in a great environment! Almost forgot to mention...the staff is very friendly and helpful. Just a great experience all around!

The atmosphere is great. It's refreshing to go somewhere and not hear beach music! Great staff and service. The fries and onion rings are very good. They had Sam Adams IPA, Ocktoberfest, New South, Yuengling, BL on draft. I ate the double cheeseburger, which had a fantastic list of toppings to choose from. There is a soda machine where you can make your own flavored drinks. It was $30 for 3 people and we left stuffed! I highly recommend and hope that it sticks around.

went for the first try yesterday, got a cheese burger with bacon, fries , and a drink, it was a good burger nice presentation, good flavor, "a little on the salty side" the fries were super good, they have different toppings/add ons for the fries, i got vinegar and salt it was very good reminded me of chips in England more than most "English pub's" do! Employees were nice and helpful, but the staff could use some polishing on customer service skills, and some rules on whats appropriate at the front counter and whats not. had a little mix up with order but was promptly corrected with a smile. Tip paper menu has a "secret" menu.

We are still sitting here digesting our most delicious meal. Not too expensive for the natural fresh food you get.

Good Onion rings. Quick for food but VERY slow on the custard treats, and that should be the easiest thing to make. We ordered the ' 28 ' burger which costs almost $11, is smaller than a softball and didn't taste very different then a burger from Wendy's.

3 of us, had the burgerfi cheeseburger, 1 order FF and one order onion rings, and three drinks 38.00. Burger was just ok, reminded me of double cheeseburger from mcdonalds. fries were well seasoned but just ok. I did not care for the huge onion rings...greasy and batter just falls off.

Went for dinner tonight as the Labor Day crowd departs the beach. They need to figure out the order taking as there were a number of employees standing around behind the counter as the line swelled. We had a party of 7 with a large order. After it was placed they reviewed it to make sure it was entered correctly. When the order came out it was perfect. Loved that you could order crispy fries. Burgers were good but a little under seasoned. Onion rings were perfect. It is nice that they have a bar. Hopefully they will work out the kinks as I think this place can make it on the restaurant crowded highway 17.

This place has delicious burgers, awesome onion rings, and great beer selection. Grass fed beef, sustainable packaging and emphasis on energy saving make this a guilt- free (except for the calories) dining experience. The complimentary onion rings that came with the fries were the best I've ever had. Outdoor seating is breezy and comfortable with large screen tv showing sports. Dogs are welcome outside and they even provide a water bowl! My wife is a vegetarian and she had a slightly mushy, but yummy quinoa burger. Just to have an option for her at a burger place was a classy touch. Nice, relaxed, cool vibe for a delicious meal. I hope there are enough hipsters in Myrtle Beach to make this place a hit- it deserves to be!!

Went today with the family for lunch...grabbed ice cold coke...the Texas hot dog (yummy)...our family shared the large fries (delish, I must add!) The burgers were yummy and we all enjoyed sitting outside in the open air eating area. We will def go back, I think this is a fun place that we can take out of town friends. Oh forgot to add...They came around with free samples of custard, it wasn't our favorite though...

The burgers were excellent and they had a great variety. However they were a bit on the pricey side. Portions were large, particularly the french fries. All the staff were friendly and after we finished they brought us all samples of the frozen custard which left us all feeling full.

I have been in Burger Fi twice....the first time was decent. The onion rings were the best part. The burgers are good but not great by any means. I went tonight to try one of their concrete frozen delights and I could not get anyone to take my order at the register. I waited in line and then other registers opened and I got skipped totally. The people who came in 10 min after me got their order taken first. This is ridiculous! Plus the little girl behind the counter was very rude. I wont be going back to Burger Fi anytime soon. This place will need locals in the winter but this local girl wont be going there....

Very good burgers and a generous portion of fries. Have been multiple times during offseason due to the drastic price reduction. Very nice and clean atmosphere with friendly staff. Will be back after Labor Day!
